John has over 40 years of experience as a researcher, consultant, trainer, and manager focused on community-based employment and related day services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). He works with states, community providers, and advocates to develop supports and services that enhance high-quality individual competitive integrated employment and community life engagement outcomes.
John’s work spans state systems change, national and state-level data on employment and day services and outcomes, and projects focused on improving the delivery of best practice employment supports. He is the principal investigator of Access to Integrated Employment, a 30-year national data collection project on day and employment services and outcomes funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Access to Integrated Employment publishes StateData.info and the annual StateData Report, the premier sources for state and national data on employment and day services and outcomes for people with IDD.
John is a director of the State Employment Leadership Network, a membership network of about 25 state developmental disability agencies committed to improving employment outcomes. He is also the principal investigator of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Advancing Employment for Individuals with IDD, a holistic initiative focusing on individual and family engagement, improving employment supports, supporting community provider transformation, and employment policy.
